The forthcoming Apple Watch may be Apple’s first tentative steps into the wearables market, but it’s not the company’s first attempt at a timepiece — as YouTube user Jonathan Morrison shows in a new video.
You see, back in 1995, when Apple was still reeling from the damaging blow that was Windows 95, the company produced a limited collection of custom-made wristwatches to reward users who upgraded to Mac OS System 7.5. And despite its slightly Saved By The Bell appearance, it was actually pretty neat.
Check out Morrison’s video after the jump.
The video shows off the watch’s “features” as they were — which included a bright blue anodized aluminum bezel, scratch resistant glass, Japanese Quartz timing, the words “Mac OS” embossed on the band, and, of course, Apple’s multi-colored old-school logo.
Some germ of the idea clearly stuck, however. Since the 1990s is making a comeback, does this mean we’re also in line for Apple-themed restaurants in the immediate future?

That isn’t even a comparison. 2 totally different things.
That’s the joke
Oh Randy, Randy, Randy. The option to type nothing at all is always available to you. Never forget that.
That’s funny! I am a proud owner of this milestone in timekeeping ;-) I think i bought it directly from the Apple Company Store in Cupertino during my first vacation in the US. Unfortunately about a year later the wristband disappeared into thin air. Must have been a truly low-performance elastomer® ;-)
That’s all well and good, but can it run Crysis?
Not the first Apple watch. They offered one in a catalog called the Apple Collection of clothing and other gear with a $35 black Apple Watch. 1988!
