The Perfect Hard Disk Enclosure for Your Mac’s External HD… If Only It Wasn’t Counterfeit

By

Fake-Apple-HD-enclosure

We’ve seen some pretty desirable counterfeit accessories for our Macs before — such as that delightful little card reader from MIC Gadget that featured a glowing Apple logo — but unfortunately, Apple drops its banhammer on them before we get chance to buy them.

It looks like the Cupertino company has done the same thing with this little gem, which could be the perfect hard drive enclosure for your Mac.

The iHdd Slim External Hard Drive Enclosure is a case that you can slap on an a spare 2.5-inch hard drive to transform it into an external HD. Like that counterfeit card reader from MIC Gadget, this counterfeit HD enclosure sports a glowing Apple logo, and a white/black plastic shell with a metal band around the edge that was clearly styled on the iPhone 4.

The enclosure will support a hard drive up to 500GB and hooks up to your Mac via USB. It costs just $26, but right now it’s currently unavailable, with Amazon stating, “We don’t know when or if this item will be back in stock.”

That makes us believe Apple may have already forced the iHdd 2 Slim onto the ever growing stockpile of counterfeit Apple merchandise, but we’re hoping it becomes available again soon. Yes, we know it’s damaging to Apple’s clean brand, but it’s pretty and we like it.

They could sell that fine without the logo, would prefer it to ones with logos on it.

  2. theoPhobia says:

My thoughts exactly. Why bother with a logo (and the headache) when it looks great without.

  3. cyberb0b says:

I like the logo but would buy it without. I think companies do this knowing they’ll get clobbered by Apple’s legal just for the publicity.. Then they act as if Apple is some evil corporation for doing so. Try putting the Coco-Cola, Pepsi or Windows logo on there and see if the same thing doesn’t happen..

Found them on eBay! Just search Apple HDD.

  6. John Neumann says:

Just include one of Apple’s stickers with the case, hell, I have 5-6 of them cluttering up my desk drawer.

Just watch the description — most of them are white or black, but the photo is silver

  8. Pucken says:

    Why only 500gb?

  9. Figurative says:

They had to be really stupid putting an Apple logo on their products.

  10. imajoebob says:

Probably because it’s old crap they’re trying to dump – that’s why they put the Apple logo on it.  Why else would anyone want to buy a c. 2007 external drive case?  If they can sell ten thousand of these before Apple shuts it down they make a quick quarter million, then disappear into the rabbit hole of untraceable Byzantine corporate ownership in East Timor.

It’s nice to plug companies with great looking products Chris, but they don’t sell hd enclosures..
