A new trailer for The Morning Show‘s upcoming third season depicts a major crisis hitting the show-within-a-show — but the solution might be worse than the problem.
That solution? A gigantic cash infusion from tech executive Paul Marks, a new character played by Mad Men star Jon Hamm. He dangles the money after the UBA TV network suffers a massive hack attack. The trailer, which Apple TV+ released Thursday, gives us a better look at Hamm as he joins Morning Show stars Jennifer Aniston, Reese Witherspoon and Billy Crudup.
The Morning Show season 3 Hamms up the drama
Award-winning workplace drama The Morning Show fulfills the Apple TV+ strategy of attracting an audience with top-quality programming. Aniston earned a SAG Award for her performance, Witherspoon was nominated for an Emmy, while Crudup won a best supporting actor Emmy. And the critics’ praise clearly brings in viewers. Earlier this year, The Morning Show ranked as the third-most-watched show ever on Apple TV+
The fast-paced drama is set at a fictitious morning news program where there’s more going on behind the camera than in front of it. Apple TV+ says of the upcoming episodes:
“In season three of The Morning Show, the stakes are high as the future of the network is thrown into question and loyalties are pushed to the brink when a tech titan takes an interest in UBA. Unexpected alliances form, private truths are weaponized and everyone is forced to confront their core values both in and out of the newsroom.”
In the new trailer, the network is in trouble and they need “someone with more money than God.” That someone is played by Hamm, but he comes with his own set of challenges.
Hamm is best known for starring in Mad Men, but the actor also appeared in Top Gun: Maverick and many other roles.
