The iPod Touch Will Go Albino This Year… But Don’t Expect Other Big Changes

We’ve heard before that while Apple will steroid charge the iPhone 5 in October, the iPod Touch isn’t likely to see a serious update. After all, short of doubling its storage space (an idea obviated by iCloud) or 3G support (which would make the iPod Touch more expensive and — yep — about as thick as an iPhone), the iPod Touch is pretty much a perfect product for the money. What more can you do to it?

The answer: not much. You just make it white and pretty much call it a day.

MacRumors reports:

MacRumors has received information indicating that the next iPod touch revision will be a very minor change, with the primary addition being the introduction of a new white model. Only minor changes are expected for the existing hardware, with the addition of an oleophobic coating for the display and a revised ambient light sensor seemingly being the main differences. Otherwise, we expect the models to be nearly identical to the current fourth-generation iPod touch model.

So white and more fingerprint resistant. Not bad, but even though iCloud makes some of this a little less relevant, I’m still hoping we’ll see a 128GB Touch this year.
