Apple TV+ gave a series order on Tuesday to The Dispatcher, a crime thriller starring Patrick Brammall.
The upcoming series will follow an Australian police detective hunting for his missing daughter.
The Dispatcher sends a call to Apple TV+
While Apple TV+ is proud of how many awards it has won, that doesn’t mean the streaming channel stays away from thrillers. It makes some popular ones, including Hijack starring Idris Elba and Slow Horses starring Gary Oldman.
The Dispatcher will be another in this genre. Apple TV+ previews the series by saying:
“Police detective Ian Hunt’s life fell apart 10 years ago when his young daughter Maggie disappeared without a trace. Now working as a police dispatcher, the only thing that has kept him going is his implacable refusal to accept that she might be gone forever. When he receives a distress call from a young girl he is certain is Maggie, he will stop at nothing to find her and reunite his broken family, whatever the cost.”
The six-episode thriller has been adapted from Ryan David Jahn’s book of the same name. The adaptation was written by Kris Mrksa.
As noted, it stars Australia’s own Patrick Brammall (Requiem, No Escape, White House Farm). No other members of the cast have been announced.
Although Apple TV+ committed to producing and launching the show, which it calls a “white-knuckle thriller,” there is no word on when The Dispatcher will reach the streaming service.
