This week on Cult of Mac’s podcast: A string of leaks from Majin Bu showcase a new line of “TechWoven” iPhone cases. This looks to be Apple’s replacement for the hated FineWoven cases, with a new material that will make the whole thing less sucky.
But does the world really need a replacement for leather iPhone cases?
Also on The CultCast:
- iPhone 17e might take a welcome trip to the Dynamic Island, and the Apple Watch might add Touch ID.
- An eye-popping eight-display setup leaves us slightly amazed and full of questions.
- Anker’s brand-new iPhone power bank is super-slim and super-cool.

Here are the headlines we’re talking about on this week’s show:

- Touch ID could come to Apple Watch
This week’s featured setup

Photo: Hoa Mai
As seen in our roundup of mind-blowing multi monitor setups, this eight-display monstrosity is total overkill! It combines three iMacs, a PC, five Dell 4K monitors and much more into a wild, wraparound setup.
Its owner — an L.A. video editor — likely puts it to good use. Still, we have questions and quibbles …
Under Review: Anker Nano Power Bank (5K, MagGo, Slim)

Finally, a battery pack that doesn’t make your iPhone feel like a brick! With review units in hand, Lewis and Griffin both marveled at how incredibly thin this new 5,000mAh MagSafe charger is.
It’s lightweight (about 3 ounces) and, at just over a quarter-inch thick, it fits beautifully on the back of an iPhone 16 Pro Max. It’s Qi2 certified, and its cooling system keeps it from turning into a griddle when magnetically attached to your phone.
It seems perfect for those days when you’re going to be out and about longer than your iPhone will last. (Never mind those weird hieroglyphics along the edge.)
Now available for preorders from Anker. It ships September 7.
Listener question of the week
More of a comment, really, but melgross’ question about Apple’s rumored “iPad on a stick” robot gave us another chance to talk about one of the most intriguing products in Tim Cook‘s magic pipeline.
