The goal of the new Targus VersaVu line is to upgrade the latest iPad models to a laptop-like experience. Plus, the slim keyboard case allows users to type on their tablet in either landscape or portrait mode.

It boasts a backlit keyboard, a trackpad and an adjustable kickstand.

VersaVu Bluetooth keyboard case offers portrait/landscape typing

“Our VersaVu Bluetooth Keyboard Cases offer superior protection and unique patented, versatile features that iPad users can count on to work effectively and with greater peace of mind, anywhere,” said David Dorantes, director of product marketing for Targus, in a press release Wednesday. “By redefining what a tablet case can do, these keyboard cases are a must-have accessory for boosting on-the-go productivity.”

A standout feature of the keyboard case is support for typing in either landscape or portrait mode. Most rival products — like the Apple Magic Keyboard for iPad — offer only landscape mode.

Plus, the angle of the screen is adjustable, thanks to a built-in kickstand. That includes making the tablet ready to draw on with an Apple Pencil. A slot for the stylus is even built into the case.

The VersaVu keyboard is backlit, plus there’s a row of function keys for controlling multimedia playback, adjusting the screen illumination and more.

Targus says the case passes MIL-STD 810G to ensure it can protect an iPad from drops of up to 4 feet.

Price and availability

Targus produces versions of the VersaVu case for the M4 iPad Pro models as well as the new iPad Air M3, iPad A16 and earlier Apple tablets.

The price depends on the version.
