The iPhone 6s keynote might be less than two week away, but we’ve already seen a bunch parts leak out of upcoming smartphone. A source provided Cult of Mac with the images above of an iPhone 6s screen assembly. The new assembly is slightly thicker than the iPhone 6 screen assembly, which is in line with previous rumors that the new device won’t have the same width as the iPhone 6.

We haven’t been able to take a closer look at the screen assembly, but another leak this morning takes a closer look at a mysterious new chip on the iPhone display that appears to confirm Force Touch is coming.

The folks at MacRumors examined the new chip that is visible on the rear end of the display and has been seen on all the leaked display units so far. No one has seen Force Touch in action on the new display yet, but the MacRumor’s sources claim the new chip is indeed related to Force Touch.

It looks like Apple created a cutout just for the chip because it’s thicker that the rest of the display part. By making a cutout, Jony Ive’s design team has saved space by covering the rest of the display evenly. The new display is about 2 grams heavier than the iPhone 6 display, but previous leaks reveal Apple plans to compensate by making the rear shell 2 grams lighter.

Apple is expected to announce the iPhone 6s at a event on September 9th. It appears that instead of using the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts or the Flint Center, Apple will return to the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium, where it introduced the Apple II.
