If you’re a T-Mobile customer assuming that the big pink T will be getting the iPhone 5 this year just by dint of it being in bed with AT&T over a possible merger, think again.
According to a new leaked internal document, T-Mobile won’t be getting the iPhone 5 in 2011.
The document, obtained by Tmo News, says that T-Mobile will be introducing two new smartphones in fall to stimulate customer interest.
However, in a quote from T-Mobile’s Chief Marketing Officer Cole Broadman, T-Mobile will not get the iPhone 5 this year.
Of course, it’s possible T-Mobile will get the iPhone 4S — the cheaper pre-paid version of the existing iPhone 4 — this year, although somehow, I feel like they’d be hinting towards that if it were true.
Pretty disappointing news all around for T-Mobile customers, but don’t fret too much: if you’re desperate for the iPhone 5 but don’t want to sell your soul to the big two, you can always join Sprint: they should get the iPhone 5 this year.

That’s too bad for T-Mo. They could have gotten a lot of new customers from having the iPhone.Â
Yuuupiii….,.v..
I just got a $829.99 iPad2 for only $103.37 and my mom got a $1499.99 HDTV for only$251.92, they are both coming with USPS tomorrow. I would be an idiot to ever pay full retail prices at places like Walmart or Bestbuy. I sold a 37″ HDTV to my boss for $600 that I only paid $78.24 for. I use
Tmo wont be around for much longer anyways.
I guess I have no regrets dumping T-Mobile and getting the Verizon iPhone this past summer. I loved T-Mobile’s service (and price) but I was tired of using Edge internet, missing out on Visual Voicemail, Not being able to get any updates, etc.
One glimmer of hope for T-Mobile customers is that if the iPhone 5 is truly a world phone and supports the 3G frequency that T-Mobile uses, then maybe buying unlocked iPhone 5’s from Apple and activating them on T-Mobile will become a viable solution/work around even if you can’t buy the iPhone directly from them.
Yuhuuuu…….Try this….bidsfresh.com
I’d be surprised if T-Mobile is even around next year; either they will be swallowed by the Deathstar or chopped up and sold to other carriers. Â Maybe Apple already knows this and isn’t going to bother creating an iPhone for T-Mobile frequencies.
I thought T-Mobile already had the iPhone?????????????? Just buy a micro sim card from T-Mobile and stick it into an unlocked iPhone??????????????????
Okay, maybe this is stupid but didn’t Apple release an unlocked iPhone 4 this year over the summer? That being the case, why would the i5 be different? Apple is not constrained by a contract with any carrier so the i5 should be unlocked therefore T-Mobile whether they officially carry it or not shouldn’t matter. Some one help me out if my logic is flawed but I’m pretty sure since Apple made that move even carriers like Metro PCS can use either the newer i4 and/or i5
I’ve been saying it all along… no iPhone 5 this year (updated iPhone 4S only). I phone 5 will be Fall of 2012. Simply not enough leaked pics, spare parts, supply chain information, etc. to support an imminent iPhone 5 release.
Your logic is flawed because T-Mobile uses different frequencies for 3G data. This is not supported in the current hardware.
T-Mobile does not have the iPhone nor do they support it. If you do what you are suggesting, you won’t have Visual Voicemail and far more importantly your data will be limited to Edge (no 3G).
Buh-bye TMO…. And another 5 MILLION customers will let you see their back as they walk away from you clowns…
