Switzerland is Number One Mac Loving Country In The World

Which country’s natives and autochton’s love Apple best? You’d think the country’s home, America, but according to a neat little exercise in statistical research by the Pingdom Blog, it’s actually the Swiss, where almost one out of five people owns a Mac.

I love that the Swiss are so into Apple. It seems so appropriate that a country obsessed with the excellence of gadgets — from the latest million-gear horological marvel right on down to the common knife or belt — would heartily embrace the Mac.

And they have. 17.61% of all computers in Switzerland are Macs. America may love Macs — 15.36% of our computers were made by Apple — by the Swiss still have us beat for general enthusiasm.

Which regions reject the Mac most totally? Depressingly, it’s Asia — where all Macs are built — followed by South America, which only has a 1.08% market share of Macs.

They are least popular in asia because 1. maybe they are a bit expensive but most importantly there isn’t much apple presence at least in the middle east. But that number is changing now thanks to the iPhone, people are so much in love with the iPhone that they have turned into apple products.. I had to order my MBP from the US after an american friend of mine got one from the US. I had never heard about Apple before that day, i played with his macbook for a few hours and ordered mine the next day, and now i feel sorry for all the years i suffered with Windows.

? you need to have more presence in the middle east.

    Geography class:

    America = A continent
United States OF America = A country

  3. Clayton Zimmerman says:

Actually, they’re being more vague than you think because America is two continents.

A friend from South America says that the biggest reason for Apple’s invisibility is, ironically, because they built a very strong network of resellers to support users. The same contracts that protect the resellers’ territories also keep Apple from setting up stores. Heck, they don’t even have online sales in Latin American countries, except for Brazil and Mexico, but they do in Viet Nam?!. Add high tariffs, which affect individuals much more than Windows-centric businesses, and you’ve got a desert for a market.

Curious about Safari performance in Switzerland in the browser war.

Actually; the tiny country of Monaco has a 22,5% market share, according to onemorething.nl

well, at the end of the day ,its all about how much you can spend, not how much you love..isnt it

Are u sure the browser % is accurate I’m surprised safari is ahead of chrome?

  10. Rasheedbutt says:

Don’t just go for the percentage alone. Asia have less people buying Macs and iOS devices because they are expensive and the countries which top this list are no surprise since their GDP per capita is higher. Simple rule of thumb. The more extra money you have on your hand, the more you can spend it on such gadgets. That being said, i have seen people lining up for days in Beijing (china) just to get their hands on new iPads and iPhones. Infact, 2 years ago.. apple opened their first retail store in Asia, in Beijing… and now they have 11 with plan to up it to 60. I read it on a website, so not making up numbers :-) though Apple itself maybe the best one to confirm their expansion plans.

I don’t know. I just know that is the only place I can find stuff like this. XD

If you want the cheapest iPhones or iPads, go Hong Kong/Macau. No Tax, lol..

Monaco is an autonomous protectorate of France and – CRAP! I sound like @Citizen of America trying to split useless geographical hairs.

“America” is not a continent. It is a short hand reference for the United States of America. North America is a continent, and South America is a continent. The “Americas” are both continents. I take it you’re Canadian, because you’re the only people who give a shit. Seriously.

    so U.S. wasn’t short enough?

I am almost 100% sure that in the Middle East shops would buy an ipad from America for $500, and sell it here for $800….the problem is, this is happening in countries with no tax

Same story for all apple products….I heard there was a store that sells Apple’s iPad case for $185!
Its only natural that people won’t buy it

Err… Singapore is in Asia and at number 10 spot. Apple is big in Asia, it’s always in the news – just out of reach for a majority of people living in Asia. Surprised Japan isn’t in the top 10 though, it’s big there too

By the way: It is not true that people would have that much love for mac pc’s in Switzerland – they just wanted to buy Iphones because of it’s coolness factor (they believe???!). Everyone that I know who owns a mac pc hates that pc because it is unhandy and stuffed with the worst software ever. All mac pc softwares have significantly less features than the windows pendants. People in Switzerland liked Iphones because it was a good smartphone. But now when better Android phones are going on the market, Apple computers will loose market share very fast. I speak now these words. And you fn mac lovers will realize that I have spoken the truth later.
