To the surprise of no one, Samsung’s co-CEO, Shin Jong-kyun revealed that the company is already working as hard as it can to make its own 64-bit processor to match the iPhone 5s’s new A7 chip.
Shin noted that he had been watching the media coverage surrounding the iPhone 5s which features the world’s first 64-bit smartphone processor. During a regular weekly meeting with chief executives of Samsung’s key affiliates, Shin confirmed that future Galaxy phones will get 64-bit processing powers. According to Shin, the 64-bit processor smartphones won’t hit the market, “in the shortest time. But yes, our next smartphones will have 64-bit processing functionality.”
To be fair, all smartphone manufacturers were bound to implement 64-bit chips within the next couple of years with or without Apple. But, now that Cupertino has shot first with the A7, it’s a sure bet that Samsung will be scrambling to get its own 64-bit processor Galaxy S5 out as soon as possible, no matter what.

64 bit processor, meh. I want a 5″ screen Apple!
Surprise! 64bit ARM CPUs were created and lIcensed by ARM! So by your article’s title, Apple copied ARM?
As much as I love Apple products … Samsung are not copying Apple with 64bit … that’s like saying you’re copying me by wearing new clothes.
So now Apple invented 64 bit processors?!? Come on now, you guys have to be smarter than this. Tell, who did Apple comy when adding dual led to the iphone 5S’ camera? How about pull down notification bar? Or how about 4g capability? Yeah, I thought so! Apple doesn’t own 64 bit processors.
You failed to mention how Samsung will create a 64mb processor…and will probably do it for less $$.

I guess Apple gets a pass for “copying” Android’s Calendar, the new iOS Calendar uses a bright white background and a pastel color scheme to represent allocated time slots.
I guess Apple gets a pass for “copying” Android’s Chrome browser tabs display in Safari.
It’s annoying that Apple fanboys (and Steve Jobs himself, RIP) always cry (cried) about how Samsung/Android and other companies copy/steal from Apple, when Apple blatantly copies just as much as everyone else.
It’s beyond hypocritical.

Oh come on now. I’m a maga Apple fan boy, but it’s not fair to Android fanboys to say ….. Oh Screw them … totally rub their nose in it.
You think that’s bad, I heard that they plan to call their next phone an S5. If that’s not a blatant copy of the 5S, I don’t know what is.
Of course Apple didn’t invent 64bit processors. But don’t you find it suspicious that TWO DAYS after Apple announces the first smartphone to have 64bit, Samsung announces the same? You might argue that Apple aren’t the industry leaders any more, but Samsung clearly still thinks they are.
