Steve Jobs: “Love What You Do.”

“Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life.”

More than any other, this is the Steve Jobs quote I keep seeing all over Twitter and the rest of the internet today.

Building Apple into what it is today was one astonishing accomplishment. Creating products as world-changing as the Mac, the iMac and the iPhone was another.

But Steve’s greatest and most meaningful legacy, in my opinion, was the message he gave to students at Stanford during his commencement address in 2005. He told them:

Sometimes life’s going to hit you in the head with a brick. Don’t lose faith. I’m convinced that the only thing that kept me going was that I loved what I did. You’ve got to find what you love. This is true for work, as it is for your lovers. Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work; and the only way to do great work is to love what you do.

Steve made clear to those young people: life is short. Make the most of it. Follow your heart.

Wise words, spoken from the heart. Thank you, Steve.
