Startup Hopes to Make Apple vs. Android Games Common

Imagine playing from your iPhone against anyone with an Android phone. That epic battle between Mac and PC types will be a more common option if an Austin startup is successful.

Digital Harmony Games says it will be the first time to allow different smartphone (or tablet) platforms to play a lot of games together in real time. Though there are currently a few games that allow platform-crossed players to partake, it’s still not a common option.

While Pong may seem, ahem, a tad outdated, that’s the demo the company has put together to show how it can link players across platforms.

“People always ask, ‘What are you most scared of?’ ” CEO Jeff Lujan told the Austin Statesmen. “To me, we’ve got to get into the market.”
The startup, which currently has six full-time employees and three part-timers and is recruiting more, was recently accepted into the Austin Technology Incubator, a nonprofit division of the University of Texas.
They hope to release the first cross-platform game by early 2012 and license cross-platform tech to other companies.

Way off topic but whatever happened to all the hype about the new Mac Pro’s? Funny how all the rumors just stopped after Lion….

Finding this site made all the work I did to find it look like nothing. The reason being that this is such an informative post. I wanted to thank you for this special read of the subject. I definitely savored every little bit of it and I submitted your site to some of the biggest social networks so others can find your blog.
