Buying an iPhone without getting AppleCare+ or your provider’s insurance plan is a bad move. You’re going to break that screen eventually trust us.

If you don’t live near an Apple Store, then you might want to go with your carrier’s own insurance protection plan on your iPhone. AT&T & Verizon already offer insurance for iPhone customers, and Sprint is finally joining the mix too.

Starting on January 25th, Sprint will offer its Total Equipment Protection service to iPhone customers, after leaving them cold for the past year. Engadget got their hands on an internal screenshot from Sprint that runs down the details.

Once you buy an iPhone from Sprint you will have 30 days to add TEP to your account. It’ll cost you $11 a month, and if you need to get your iPhone repaired you’ll have to pay a deductible between $150-$200.

Honestly, it’s not as good a deal as AppleCare+, and you’ll have to deal with Sprint’s mediocre customer service rather than Apple’s, but if you’re living in a small town the Total Equipment Protection might be your best bet for keeping your iPhone safe from a cracked screen.
