Sprint Starts Capping Data In Preparation For The iPhone 4S

If you need even more proof that Sprint is getting the iPhone next month, here’s another careless move on the part of the nation’s third largest cell carrier: in a move prettty obviously suggestive of a major new smartphone incoming next month, Sprint will cap its data tethering plans to 5GB starting October 2nd… two days before the next iPhone is rumored to be unveiled.

Currently, Sprint charges $29.99 per month for their Now Network plans, which allow 3G and 4G tethering. Come next month, though, Sprint is knocking a 5GB cap on that tether plan… still better than Verizon and AT&T’s $20 2GB tethering plans from a pennies-per-byte perspective, but way worse than the unlimited data tethering Sprint’s been offering before now.

So here’s what Sprint has done so far: raised its ETFs, discontinued its Premier service, raised its upgrade fees and no capped its tethering plans. Boy, what is it about the iPhone that makes the best carriers turn money grubbing and evil the second they get Apple’s device?

There stock was trading very low today, Even dipping below $3!! I see a potential uptick as soon as the iphone is announced. On the other hand why would it trade that low when Sprint investors are also anticipating the iphone – wouldn’t adding the iphone & (soon) ipad to it’s lineup make them a bigger stronger company???

I guess you never know with stock markets but just in case it doubles in the next month – I called it here first!!
