SpongeBob discovered a new card game and now he wants to share it with everyone in Bikini Bottom. SpongeBob SolitairePants is played on a three-by-three array of cards, and it’s the latest addition to the Apple Arcade gaming service.

The game is now available for a range of Apple devices.

SpongeBob SolitairePants is more grown up than you might expect

There are many variations on the traditional (Klondike) Solitaire game. These are both relaxing and challenging… which isn’t necessarily something one might anticipate from SpongeBob SquarePants.

Viacom, the developer of SpongeBob SolitairePants promises, “It is easy to learn but you will need to play strategically to clear every card.”

Cards are laid out in a three-by-three square, and players must stack cards in order. There are also four storage “bubbles” used to store cards for later use.

The game also offers a multiplayer mode in which players race to clear their cards while playing on the same squares.

And there’s quest mode that challenges players with a variety of objectives like building a Krabby Patty or catching a jellyfish all while placing cards correctly.

Play it now

SpongeBob SolitairePants is available now from the Apple Arcade section of the App Store. There are versions for iPhone, Mac, iPad and Apple TV. Game controllers are always an option for any of these platforms.

Fans of SpongeBob shouldn’t miss Nickelodeon Extreme Tennis, also part of Apple Arcade.

These are just a couple of over 200 other titles in Apple’s gaming service playable for a single $4.99-per-month subscription. And a family can share a subscription. New games appear almost every week.

What’s not part of Apple Arcade are irritating requests for in-app purchases or questionable loot boxes – these are banned.
