When the Sparrow team announced that it had been acquired by Google back in July, the future of its popular email clients for Mac and iOS became unclear. We still don’t really know what will become of Sparrow, but its creators promised it would continue support its customers.
Staying true to that promise, the team has updated Sparrow for iPhone for the first time since its Google acquisition, adding support for Google Chrome, better IMAP compatibility, and more.
The full release notes read:
- Webpages can be opened in Chrome
- Improved IMAP compatibility
- Improved avatars behavior
- Various bug fixes
That first one will be a welcome improvement for Sparrow users. Chrome has quickly become one of the most popular third-party browsers on iOS, but Apple’s restrictions mean it cannot be set as the default browser in place of mobile Safari. With that being the case, the more apps that support Chrome, the better.
With Sparrow version 1.3.2, when you open links in your emails, you’ll have the opportunity to send them straight to Chrome.
