Yesterday brought the news of a very stunning photograph of the Space Shuttle Endeavor launch, captured on her iPhone by (now-famous) Stefanie Gordon from Hoboken, NJ while on an airplane flight in the area. The photo has gone viral, and it turns out Gordon captured a short video of the event too.

With the imminent end of the Space Shuttle program every launch becomes special, and rarely has footage from this above-the-clouds perspective been seen before. Gordon has become an instant media celebrity, gathering over a thousand new Twitter followers and getting interviewed on TV since her serendipitous shot was taken.

Gordon noted in her Twitter feed that she’s using an iPhone 3Gs, which has done yeoman duty in sharing a special moment with the world. Thanks for the quick thinking, Stefanie!

I saw it in person standing on the beach. It is much cooler in person :).

lol, I was only commenting on the fact that watching the shuttle in person is 10^5 times better than watching it on a screen.  What she saw must have been mind blowing.
