Some T-Mobile iPhone users are suffering a case of ‘blue screen of death’

Numerous T-Mobile iPhone users are complaining that their handsets are reportedly suffering bizarre outages, causing them to reboot at half-hourly intervals.

On social media, users are describing how their Uncarrier iPhones crash every 20 to 30 minutes while they are using certain apps, leading to a Microsoft-style “blue screen of death” and then a reboot.

The problem doesn’t seem to be tied to a particular iPhone model or version of iOS, with iPhone 5s, 6 and 6 Plus users, running both iOS 8.1 and iOS 8.3, all reporting the problem.

One Reddit user who contacted T-Mobile was advised to hard reset their iPhone, clear out old text messages, and then do a full factory restore in iTunes before restoring from backup. The user in question noted that T-Mobile believes the issue is related to memory problems, and is prompting “a lot of calls.”

Things aren’t completely hopeless, though. A post on the Apple forums suggests the osier is triggered by the Wi-Fi calling feature T-Mobile introduced in 2014. By disabling this and VoLTE it is possible to solve the issue. If this still doesn’t work, users can disable these two services and then perform a factory reset.
