Snapchat just reached a new frontier: your wrist. That’s right, Snap announced a version of its signature application for Apple Watch on Thursday.

But temper your expectations. The app offers a very limited feature set.

Snapchat for Apple Watch keeps users in touch

Snapchat allows users to send images and videos (called “Snaps”) or text messages to friends. The key feature is that these messages are designed to disappear after they are opened or after a short period.

“With the Snapchat app on Apple Watch, you can preview an incoming message and reply using the Keyboard, Scribble, Dictation, or send an emoji,” said Snap, Inc.

Note that there’s no mention of starting a conversation. That’s because the new smartwatch version of the application can only reply to messages. When the app is opened, it just shows the Snapchat logo — there’s no way to start a conversation or even see a list of previous conversations.

There’s certainly no way to share images or videos from this version of the software, which makes sense as Apple’s smartwatch doesn’t have a camera.

Still, with the newly released Apple Watch version, Snapchat is now available on iPhone, iPad, and on Mac via the web. The mobile versions of the free social media software can be found in the App Store.
