Siri On Non-iPhone 4S Devices Will Require Piracy, Says Dev Team

If you’re hoping that the Dev Team will be able to port the iPhone 4S’s new Siri feature to other devices like the iPad 2 and iPhone 4, prepare for a disappointment: MuscleNerd says that it will likely require piracy, and therefore, they probably won’t do it.

On Twitter, MuscleNerd wrote:

Anyone hoping for a “port” of Siri from iPhone4S: pending a very low-level A5 exploit, it likely can’t be done without piracy :(

(only way to extract Siri files from iPhone4S filesystem without pirating is to have the main FS keys, requiring low-level exploit)

In other words, the only way to get Siri on a non-iPhone 4S is by ripping off the files and installing them on another device. You can’t trick an iPhone 4 into identifying itself as an iPhone 4S to download Siri directly from Apple. Granted, it’s mostly a semantic argument, but it does mean that the Dev Team won’t be helping you with your Siri jones.

So Siri is only for the new phones? Not only for apple make it harder and more expensive for us iPhone 4 users but they also don’t give us Siri? And they wonder why people jailbreak their phones…

i want Siri on the iPhone 4. please, give it to the iPhone 4 users please Apple

The issue with Siri – is that as a standalone app, it worked “well”, but Apple has integrated it into the OS itself and its supporting framework.  Apple COULD have released Siri for the iPhone 4 (or 3GS) only to have to deal with headaches of it causing issues (delaying, locking up) and they chose to make the user experience as seamless as possible. It won’t be long until it is pirated and put onto an iPhone 4, but I feel sorry for the people who try to use it.

If they gave you Siri for the iPhone 4, why else would you buy the 4S? The camera?

Thing is, is the iPhone4 processor fast enough to handle Siri?
