Comedy actor Seth Rogen shoulders a lot with new Apple TV+ comedy series The Studio, as he writes, directs, executive produces and stars in it as an embattled Hollywood studio head, according to two trailers the streamer dropped for the show, now streaming. Will Rogen’s series fare better than the show’s fictional “Continental Studios?” Well, as you can see in the trailers, he has a star-studded cast to work with, including himself, Catherine O’Hara, Kathryn Hahn and guest star Bryan Cranston.

The 10-episode, half-hour comedy series premieres on Apple TV+ March 26, 2025. Watch the promising trailers below.

Update: We added the official trailer for The Studio under the teaser trailer, below. The new comedy series started streaming Wednesday on Apple TV+. Loaded with stars in guest cameos, the spoof of Hollywood filmmaking gets good reviews. AP News calls it “the defining portrait of modern Hollywood.” Other reviews throw around descriptions like “superb,” “spot-on, star-studded takedown” and “hilarious.” Apple TV+ press tends to stamp every show as “highly anticipated,” but this one actually was, and it sound justified in this case. It sounds like a must-see.

Seth Rogen’s The Studio comedy series debuts on Apple TV+ March 26, 2025

Every so often — actually, pretty often — Hollywood makes a movie or TV series more-or-less about itself. And some win popularity and acclaim. Take The Artist, Barry, Barton Fink, Entourage, The Player and Chaplin as a hodgepodge of examples where the industry plays a major role. Rogen‘s The Studio appears to be Apple TV+’s entry in the subgenre.

In the teaser trailer, which is not long at a minute and 16 seconds but not as short as some initial trailers, we see Matt Remick (Rogen) having a heart-to-heart talk about his impossible job with O’Hara‘s character on a landscaped lawn overlooking downtown Los Angeles. The scene is intercut with splashy shots of an ebullient Remick that slowly change to scenes of a beleaguered Remick. In several of them, recognizable Hollywood figures — Hahn, Martin Scorsese, Charlize Theron — viciously rip into him and Continental Studios. Some even resort to physical violence at times. Nonetheless, diva O’Hara reassures the downtrodden Hollywood honcho he’ll make a great studio head.

Here’s Apple TV+ description of the new series, which looks like it might be tons of fun:

In The Studio, Rogen stars as Matt Remick, the newly appointed head of embattled Continental Studios. As movies struggle to stay alive and relevant, Matt and his core team of infighting executives battle their insecurities as they wrangle narcissistic artists and craven corporate overlords in the ever-elusive pursuit of making great films. With their power suits masking their never-ending sense of panic, every party, set visit, casting decision, marketing meeting and award show presents them with an opportunity for glittering success or career-ending catastrophe. As someone who eats, sleeps and breathes movies, it’s the job Matt’s been pursuing his whole life, and it may very well destroy him.

Star-studded cast and accomplished producers

In addition to Rogen, the show stars Emmy, SAG and Golden Globe Award winner O’Hara, Emmy Award nominee Hahn, Ike Barinholtz and Chase Sui Wonders. Academy Award nominee and Emmy Award winner Cranston appears as a guest star, looking cheesy as hell as he tells Remick, “At Continental, we don’t make artsy-fartsy films, we make movies. Movies!”

From Lionsgate Television, The Studio is created by multi-Emmy Award winners Peter Huyck and Alex Gregory, along with Rogen, Goldberg and Frida Perez. Point Grey Pictures’ James Weaver, Alex McAtee and Josh Fagen also executive produce alongside Rogen and Emmy Award nominee Evan Goldberg.

The new project marks the latest collaboration for Apple TV+ and Rogen, and joins the recently renewed Apple Original comedy Platonic, in which Rogen stars and executive produces alongside Rose Byrne.
