Satechi CubeDock: A standout Mac SSD that looks familiar

There is no shortage of Thunderbolt 5 docks for Macs, but Satechi’s CubeDock stands out from the crowd. Made from aluminum and resembling a Mac mini, it measures just 5 inches by 5 inches by 2 inches. Its color also matches Apple’s silver shade for the Mac mini and Mac Studio.

The CubeDock houses a power button with an integrated LED on the front, along with a 3.5mm audio jack, a 10Gbps USB-C port with 30W output, a 10Gbps USB-A port, and SD and microSD card slots.

The rear features a 2.5GbE port, three Thunderbolt 5 downstream ports, one 10Gbps USB-C port and a 10Gbps USB-A port. There’s also an upstream Thunderbolt 5 USB-C port that connects to your Mac or MacBook and can deliver up to 140W of power. The dock pulls power from a 21-volt barrel connector.

Internally, the CubeDock features active cooling, with the mesh design on both sides helping with airflow. The NVMe SSD slot is located at the bottom and supports drives up to 8TB with speeds reaching 6,000 MB/s.

Satechi’s CubeDock works with both Thunderbolt 5-equipped Macs and Windows PCs. On Windows, it can drive up to three 4K monitors simultaneously, while on Macs, it supports dual 6K60Hz displays.
