Crafted from space gray aluminum to complement the look of Apple devices, Satechi’s new docking station supports up to four extended monitors at 4K/60Hz resolution or a single display at an awe-inspiring 8K/60Hz.
Solving the external-display limitation
So here’s how it works. Two displays can be connected via Thunderbolt 4. The remaining two leverage HDMI connectivity. This feature directly addresses the single-display limitation imposed by M1, M2 and M3 chips.
This allows M1 and M2 MacBook Pro models to drive three displays simultaneously. And the M3 MacBook Air can power four displays when in clamshell mode. Machines equipped with Pro and Max chips can take full advantage of the hub’s four-display capability.
Power delivery and ports
Satechi‘s new dock provides a robust 96W power delivery to the host machine. That ensures even the power-hungry 16-inch MacBook Pro remains fully charged. Additionally, each of the three Thunderbolt 4 downstream ports offers 15W of charging power. That enables users to simultaneously charge two iPhones, Apple Watches or other accessories.
These Thunderbolt 4 ports facilitate lightning-fast data transfers at up to 40Gb/s, while two USB-A ports support transfer speeds of up to 10Gb/s. A UHS-II SD card reader is also integrated, capable of transferring data at an impressive 312MB/s.
Satechi has designed the Thunderbolt 4 Multi-Display Docking Station to support daisy-chaining up to six devices, providing native 32Gb/s PCIe support for external GPUs and Thunderbolt-based storage solutions.
