Isn’t it the most Samsung thing in the world to introduce a new technology that’s actually kind of interesting, and then ruin any originality points it picked up by blatantly ripping off Apple?
That’s exactly what happened when Samsung recently announced the SE370, the industry’s first computer monitor with integrated wireless charging function for mobile devices — only to “borrow” the exact same charging battery charging icon Apple used back in its skeuomorphic days before iOS 7 came along.
Oh, Samsung, will you never learn?

Mmmmmk Apple fangirl.
Apple products page, you moronic bastard
Should we list the items Apple has ripped off over that last few years from Android / Samsung? Talk about “the pot calling the kettle black”.
Of course. Please, start listing for us, we’ll patiently wait…you aren’t a coward, are you?
I’m an iOS and Android Developer and think iOS kicks the shit out of Android, but you have to admit that Apple stole stuff too. For example:
– The pull down notification center
– The app chooser when sharing something… although Android still does a better job of this than Apple. Android provides developers with a thing called an “Intent.” As in, it is my intent to share a photo. The system keeps track of all installed apps which declare they can handle “Sharing” a “Photo.” The reason Android does this a little better is because it also lets you set default handlers for things. On iOS, if you tap a link, it will take you to Safari. If you wanted to use Chrome instead don’t have control over that. You can do that on Android.
– ApplePay is actually a better version of GoogleWallet. Not just in functionality, but it was simply handled better when rolling out that functionality. Google Wallet has been on people’s phones for a couple of years and NO ONE uses it, because most don’t even know what it is.
So, there’s a short list for you.
I develop for both OSes and iOS is generations ahead of Android, but iOS did grab a couple of things that Android did. It mostly goes the other way though, because Android is trying to catch up.
You’re so unbelievably wrong. Android is years ahead of what ios will ever be. Android is the best
The AndroidOS can’t even do incredibly basic things that iOS has built-in. 90% of the time, if you see something happen on Android that also happens on iOS, the Android developer had to spend a month writing code to mimic that behavior on Android while the iOS developer didn’t even have to think about it because it was built-in and happened automatically.
AndroidOS is generations behind iOS.
Thanks for being honest. That’s the truth.
So, you had to put it on both sites? Are you guys just running out of meaningful articles. I’m glad their are better sites. Once in a while a good article shows up here. But lately it seems a 4th grader is writing these articles.
I’m also glad there’s people who knows the correct use of “their” and “there” and that there’s people with better spelling than yours, as it seems a 4th grader could spell better than you.
Thanks for correcting my grammar. I’m sorry that i couldn’t get it correctly while typing on my phone. i’ll keep that in mind next tyme
I really like how you refuted yankeeusa’s point, rather than just insulting them based on minor grammatical errors. Oh, wait. Nevermind.
Wow a battery icon hmmm unbelievable.
Yeah, Samsuck couldn’t even come up with a battery ICON.
I think you missed the point.
It’s literally just a battery icon…
So what.
Did I miss it or did you? lol
Bleeding ‘journalism’ at its best. Sorry, I meant bleeding edge ‘journalism’.
While I know these types of articles have been around for years, and will continue to do so, can they at least be a bit more discussion or opinion led, rather than simply ‘X uses the same image that Y used’. Give us your own take, or others from within a close industry, on what insights such actions give away, if any.
Yes, while the battery image does look very similar to what’s been used before, is it really “the exact same…icon Apple used”, or just one that is similar? Put a bit of effort in rather than a constant god-damn click-bait excuse of an article.
Whats up with all the losers logging onto an Apple-centric website to criticize Apple products? Methinks you people need to find a hobby and/or get some sort of, you know, life.
Ever heard of Flipboard?
Sometimes articles sound so terrible you just have to read them.
>Samsung creates innovative monitor
>Apple centric website slams Samsung for using an image of a battery that was also used in iOS
>nice.jpg
Few things are more annoying than an Apple fan demonstrating the same attitude as an AppleBasher. As long as competing platforms have existed, their designers get ideas from the competition.
Based on my thirty years of observation (and coming originally from the PC world), Apple has always maintained an overall lead in innovation, but the competition has always done a lot of innovating as well. It is no secret that Apple has grabbed a few ideas from the competition (such as split screen on the iPad). A good idea is a good idea. There’s absolutely no point in taking potshots back and forth.
“the industry’s first computer monitor with integrated wireless charging function for mobile devices” But HEY, Apple gave us a battery icon!
hahaha nice one :)
who the hell cares of a green color charging icon when we can actually charge a phone on a monitor. get your head out of you know what and be practical of all the apple products you paid for and all the money apple is spending to improve technology as a whole and more over the patents it has in 2015. start there
and iOS far behind Android. They can do what they love to do, look outside, take inspiration, add flavours and oh boy, patent it. No one should copy us what we have copied from others :P
But on a serious note, Cult of Mac, you make such good articles, what is this ?? Seriously ?? On one battery icon, you made a new post! That’s so bad.
True!
Good artists copy; great artists steal.
Samsung copied an icon while Apple’s just caught up to Android circa 2011 10 months ago, and nearly everything was too broken to use in iOS 8.
