Samsung plans to take the “courageous” step of copying Apple next year by ditching the headphone jack on its flagship smartphone.

The most recent rumor about the upcoming “Galaxy S8” claims the device will use USB-C for charging and for headphone connections. Apple made the controversial decision to kill the headphone jack on the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus this year. Not all fans were happy with the move.

[contextly_auto_sidebar] Samsung may beat Apple to adding some major new features, such as a long-rumored embedded fingerprint sensor. SamMobile reports that the Galaxy S8 will ditch its home button, too, allowing much smaller bezels.

Monkey see, monkey do

Apple has supposedly been planning to kill the iPhone’s home button as well. The Galaxy S8 is expected to come out before the iPhone 8 refresh in 2018.

Other new feature on the Galaxy S8 are rumored to include a 2K-resolution super-AMOLED display. Instead of using a PenTile pixel layout, though, Samsung will allegedly switch back to RGB.

Next year could be huge year for Apple and for Samsung. iPhone sales are expected to surge, thanks to pent-up demand for new features.

Even though the iPhone 7 just came out a few months ago, rumors are already heating up that the device may get a major design change with a curved glass body, improved cameras, slimmer bezels and supercharged internals.

If Samsung does remove the headphone jack, they’ll never hear the end of it.

After 5 yrs I finally left my office job and that decision was a life-changer for me… I started doing a job at home, over a site I discovered over internet, for several hours every day, and I earn much more than i did on my previous job… My last month pay-check was for 9 thousand dollars… Amazing thing about this work is that i have more free time with my kids… URLIN.IT/143f7e

Samsung – we blatantly rip off other companies for the good and the bad

    • WiscoNative says:

Apple – we do what Motorola did on the Moto Z and get all of the credit.

      • Bruce Wayne says:

So what, it’s a feature that the headphone jack was removed? Also I would point out that LONG before the Moto Z came out their were a lot of rumours saying Apple would ditch it

      • WiscoNative says:

The “so what” here is that Apple copied something other manufacturers did, but when someone else does it they’re suddenly “copying Apple.” It’s as though Apple can do no wrong, is always setting the bar, and it’s ridiculous.

So is coming on an Apple fan site and complaining that people are Apple fans.

      • WiscoNative says:

I’m definitely not complaining that people are Apple fans – I like a lot of what Apple does. I’m complaining about this wild misrepresentation of Apple versus other companies.

      • Bruce Wayne says:

Also I mean’t that as a question, which may be easier to under stand if I put it in quotation marks and use more blatant language, “Is it a feature that the headphone jack was removed?”

      • Bruce Wayne says:

Also again I reiterate my point typically other manufacturers hear something about Apple and they rush to try and beat them to market, e.g. When samsung heard that Apples iPhone 7 would be a bit “boring this year they rushed the Note 7 to the market, similar story with the headphone jack removal, Apple was rumoured to be doing it, all of a sudden Motorola has a phone with no headphone jack, it was uncanny

      • WiscoNative says:

So your argument is basically “everyone is just copying Apple, regardless of when they release their device”? That’s ridiculous – did the Oppo R5 copy Apple too, when they removed the headphone jack in 2014?

      • Undivided says:

LOL…He says so what…..Rag on Samsung for blatant copying but when apple does it it’s so what. LOL….

      • Bruce Wayne says:

Also what is it with Apple tech website that it always attracts people who don’t like Apple. If you don’t like Apple then why are reading an article on a website that literally has one of their products in it’s title?

      • WiscoNative says:

I DO like Apple. I own an iPad Pro 9.7″, iMac 5K and 11″ MacBook Air. I love these devices, and I like a lot of what Apple does. That doesn’t mean I’m going to misrepresent the company to make it look better than it is.

Life is not made of dichotomies, where I must either revere or hate Apple.

      • Docservlet says:

Sure you do….I own a thousand windows machines too.

      • Docservlet says:

Apple had planned to remove the jack for probably a year.

Galaxy Tab 7.7 then iPad mini 7.9
Galaxy Tab pro then iPad pro
      Galaxy Note then iPhone plus
      Galaxy Gear then apple watch
      S health then health kit
      Note Stylus then apple pencil
      Air view then 3D touch

Samsung had floating video, split screen, power saving, Air View animated GIF Apple comes out with exactly the same.

The next iPhone will have a curved AMOLED display, wireless charging, water and dust resistance and glass body just like the S6 edge, Note 5, Note 7 & S7 edge.

  3. WiscoNative says:

Just like how Apple copied the Moto Z, which removed the headphone jack first, right? I get that this is a cult but come on, this is so ridiculously biased.

  4. jOn Garrett says:

5 Android phones have headphone jacks removed including the Oppo R5 of 2014.

So if Samsung does it, it’s somehow copying apple as opposed to following a trend set by Android OEMs?

  5. Demonstr8r says:

Wow, that’s a total shocker! NOT!
