Rumors: New Macs Could Appear As Early As Tuesday

imacpreview.jpgApple may unveil a new slate of Macs as early as today, advancing a rumored late March announcement. These latest reports suggest the computer maker could introduce updated versions of its iMac and Mac mini desktop line.

The chatter comes from the French MacBidouille and Dutch OneMoreThing, which offered details of a potential Apple hardware refresh, including model numbers and alleged photos of a new Mac mini.


According to MacBidouille, four new models could be released:
  • MB417: “Entry-level” 20-inch iMac with a 2.66GHz Core 2 Duo.
  • MB418: “Mid-range” 24-inch iMac with a 2.66/2.93GHz Core 2 Duo.
  • MB419: “High-end” 24-inch iMac with a 2.93GHz Core 2 Duo
  • MB420: “Very high-end” 24-inch 3.06GHz Core 2 Duo.
  • In addition, OneMoreThing said Apple could introduce a 2GHz Core 2 Duo Mac Mini with 1GB of RAM and 120GB hard disk drive. As well, the Web site mentioned another Mac mini with an unspecified Core 2 Duo chip and 2GB of RAM.

    Monday, reports suggested Apple was readying a March 24 media announcement, potentially to roll-out new hardware.
