Rovio has experienced unparalleled success with their Angry Birds franchise and has just recently announced it has surpassed 1 billion downloads! That’s pretty insane, and what makes it even more impressive is the fact that since its release, the game hasn’t really changed much. To think Rovio was able to pull this off by simply switching up themes and adding more levels is mind boggling.

Every year that goes by, we’re left wondering, “how long can Rovio keep this up”? At some point, Rovio HAS to move on — doesn’t it? Well, it looks like that time may soon be upon us. Today, Rovio released a video celebrating the success of Angry Birds and saying “Thank You” to all their fans. They also promise “Amazing Things To Come,” which usually means another Angry Birds theme or Mighty Eagle, however, this time it actually appears Rovio has a new game on the horizon, as the scene at the end of the video has a familiar look.

Jeff Scott over at 148apps points out the familiar face and background as none other than the hit iPad game Casey’s Contraptions. Casey’s Contraptions is a highly praised physics puzzler with levels that include everything from hamster tubes and punching gloves to darts and RC cars. As you can see from the side by side images, Rovio’s end scene is a clear indication of plans to incorporate Casey’s Contraptions in some way, shape, or form.

Whether they simply create an Angry Birds/Casey’s Contraptions mesh or buy the game outright is still a mystery, but at least we’re going to see something new from Rovio in the future.
