Long hair game designer and ruminant enthusiast Jeff Minter has designed some deliciously weird games over the years, including Attack of the Mutant Camels, Metagalaci Llamas Battle At The Edge of Time, Mama Llama, Space Giraffe and Llamatron.

Now he’s back, with another game of hoof and horn: the surreal, Doodle Jump like GoatUp.

In GoatUp, you play a majestic goat, leaping upwards, ever upwards, across a series of platforms while munching grass and collecting a plethora of items. What separates GoatUp from the competition is that as you go through a series of worlds, you’ll experience a number of homages and references to the classic eras of platforming video games.

I love Minter’s weirdo games, and GoatUp is no exception. It is, as the official App Store description says, “easily the best goat-related platform game on iOS.” You can download it from the App Store on both iPhone and iPad now here. It costs just $1.99.

Goat-related games are always good, but those are some seriously awful graphics.  I would get a headache trying to play that.

I don’t understand why this particular game was featured on both TUAW and CultofMac on the same day. That is a heck of a coincidence.

I love the fact that old school Atari developers think that forward thinking iOS users would actually want their crappy games.  It shows that marijuana does kill brain cells.

    Should be ‘Ungulate’, fwiw.
