When Steve Jobs unveiled the Smart Cover, he put it forward as a solution to the status quo, where you have this gorgeous device and yet the only way to protect it was to sheathe it on all sides. The resulting cover is a nifty gadget in its own right, but it’s not exactly very protective: while it’ll guard the screen from being scratched in your bag, it won’t cushion your iPad 2 if it falls, and it won’t protect the back.
XGear’s Smart Cover Enhancer probably won’t protect your iPad 2 from much of a fall, but it will at least save the back of your iPad 2 from a gouging while working with your existing Smart Cover.
The Smart Cover Enhancer comes in both black and clear, and will cost $34.99 when it goes on sale at the end of the month.

DoDo Bookback case. $19.95. Nuff said. http://www.dodocase.com/collec…
I see no problem with the Smart Cover. It protects the screen when your not using it, then protects the back [which doesn’t really scratch easily at all] when you are using it…where’s the problem with that?
It doesn’t seem to wanna stay on the iPad 2 anyway, it’ll just fall off.
Ugly..
He says “nice and tight” yet when he goes to flip it over, it starts to come off. Hmm… how long did they spend designing this thing? Looks alright, but I think I’ll just stick with a Smart Cover for now (or wooden one).
Looks a lot better than the one featured here, might actually buy it.
I wonder how well that DoDo backing stays on? I’ve been looking into this one too. I just get nervous that it will begin to peel around the edges over time.
Lol. This looks like something me and a couple buddies would do in a garage…while intoxicated. It’s pretty bad when instead of demoing the device by talking about build quality, you pretty much just show the iPad Nd the fact that it you can type on it. Lol. This is serious comedy.
Yeah, that’s been my experience in the three days since I got my iPad 2. Maybe I’ll change my mind but for now I’m happy w/the Smart Cover.

Just bought this case that completely covers the entire device. It cost less than any i’ve seen, and best of all has the same Smart Cover design and function
Best case for the money if you ask me, but you didn’t :-)…

I agree with 123evan, my wife was concerned about the back, so she got the one from hypershop. They come in all the “same” colors as Apple covers BUT the colors are off just a bit. My wife has the red leather case, and the red hypershield is off a bit, so maybe a grey or black would have been better. She says it’s fine, fits tight and protects the back like she wanted. http://www.hypershop.com/Hyper…
it looks like its kinda loose and no one wants a case that’s protecting for i pad when it hits a rock and the cover slides out and says “I’m okay” when the i pad is *Smashed* because it seems every time he turns it wants to come and he holds it tightly and when he turns it he does it quick so that it cant slide of don’t you see how he sort of throws it =) i would not buy its basically the same thing as a plastic cover for the i pad and a smart cover in the oh wow your genius but i didn’t really mean it that way don’t wanna be maybe it could protect the i pad who knows ?*?

Why to break the shape better is to go for Zagg covers.
