Pebblebee Clip 5 marks a new generation of the Bluetooth tracker tag that’s now louder and brighter. That should help it compete with Apple’s AirTag, as both use the same Find My network.

There’s also an updated wallet-friendly version of the tracker, Pebblebee Card 5.

Pebblebee Clip 5: Louder, brighter and thinner

Bluetooth tracker tags make it easy to keep track of everyday items by creating a simple, low-power link between your phone and your belongings. They can alert you when you leave something behind, help you locate misplaced items on a map, and even guide you with sound or lights when you’re close.

The Pebblebee Clip 5 that launched Thursday brings a louder buzzer and brighter LEDs to the line of trackers. It’s thinner but more durable than its predecessor. It is water-resistant and runs up to twelve months on a rechargeable battery.

The tag capitalizes on limitations in Apple’s rival AirTag. That tracker doesn’t have LEDs and uses removable batteries instead of a rechargeable one. It also lacks a built-in loop.

Both Clip 5 and AirTag use Bluetooth to connect with the Find My application on the user’s iPhone. All you need to locate the tracker is to open the app, and you’ll see the device on a map. If it’s nearby, press a button to set off an audible and visible alarm on the remote device.

“After five generations of Clip & Card and more than a decade of making item finders in every form factor, we’ve learned what people truly want,” said Daniel Daoura, Founder and CEO of Pebblebee. “Our goal for this launch was to ensure our products continue to be engineered for trust and, going forward, designed to shine.”

The standard model comes in a graphite color, but Pebblebee just started Evercolor, a limited edition color program that drops two fresh shades every twelve weeks. The first two are Emerald Storm and Amethyst Purple.

Plus there’s Card 5, a slimmer tracker for wallets, with wireless charging and up to eighteen months of battery life per charge.

Pebblebee Clip 5 and Card 5 are $34.99 each.

The previous Clip Universal version is still on Amazon for $22.99. Don’t confuse its for the new model.
