Music streaming service Pandora updated its Apple Watch app Wednesday with the addition of Siri support, letting users request music, stations and podcasts verbally.
Customers can now find more exacting content without needing to use their iPhone. Users can now select specific content by adding or deleting music from its preferences with simple “like” or “dislike” commands. Premium subscribers can ask Siri to add music to a specific collection. and shuffle stations on the fly.
The services, owned by Sirius XM, came to the Apple Watch through its app in January of 2019.
Pandora is currently the seventh largest streaming music service behind Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon, Tencent, Google and Deezer, according to consultancy firm Midia Research. It is lagging quite far behind the industry leaders.
Spotify had a 36% marketshare, or 108.1 million subscribers, at the end of June 2019. Behind Spotify is Apple Music (54.7 million subscribers and an 18% market share); Amazon Music (38.3 million / 13%); and far down the list Pandora with 7.1 million subscribers and a 2% marketshare.
The service costs $9.99 a month for Pandora Plus or $9.99 a month for the Premium plan.
Pandora can be downloaded from the iOS and Apple Watch App Store for free.
