New Skin Turns Your iPhone Into Windows Phone 7… But Why?

What’s the opposite of putting a pig in lipstick? Making a leggy supermodel wear a sow mask? I’m just struggling to find the proper analogy here, because some mad man has just released a fairly exhaustive skin for iOS that makes your iPhone look like — horf — a Windows Phone 7 series device.

OS7 designed by Wyndwarrior is for jailbroken iOS devices only. Here are the installation instructions:

1. Install Backboard from Cydia.
2. Make sure you have created a “Default” backup; if not, press the add button in Backboard and give it a name.
3. Go on your device and click on this link: backboard://https://wyndrepo.googleco…es/OS7Beta.zip
4. Press “Yes” and wait for it to download. This may take a few minutes depending on your internet connection.
5. Select OS7 from Backboard. Press Install. Respring.

The question is, how much would you pay for Microsoft to puke all over your device? Even Wyndwarrior doesn’t seem to know, as he’s currently having people vote on the price that he’ll charge for OS7 once it exits beta. No surprises here: “nothing” has a slim lead on $0.99.

All kidding aside, I actually don’t think Windows Phone 7 is hideous, and this is a pretty impressive port. That said… it’s the principle of the thing.
