For many of us early testers, one of the biggest barriers to using iOS 5 Beta as a full-time upgrade on our iPhones and iPad has been the lack of Netflix streaming. That wasn’t an iOS bug, just a lack of support on Netflix’s end… a lack of support which has now delightfully been fixed.
Not only does the new Netflix update add support for iOS 4.3.4 and iOS 4.2.9, it also brings streaming support for iOS 5.
As far as I’m concerned, that’s the last thing that was needed to make iOS 5 Beta 4 usable as a day-to-day mobile OS. Well, that and a working, tetherless jailbreak on the iPad 2, but I’m gonna guess I’ll have to wait quite awhile for that.
You can download Netflix for iOS here.

Not exactly sure what the issue was. I’ve been streaming on Netflix for months.Â

Do you mean AirPlay to an AppleTV?
with iOS 5?
The usual idea is that you would use NFC to set up the link between the two devices and then do an automatic hand over to a different protocol for doing the actual transfer of data – eg Bluetooth, iphone 5
