Forget spotty Wi-Fi connections that drop out when you need them most. MyLiFi is a table lamp that delivers fast and secure internet directly to your laptop through LED light.

Made out of high-quality aluminum, MyLiFi uses “light fidelity” technology that transmits data at up to 23 megabits per second without using radio waves.

Everyone loves Wi-Fi. Most of us couldn’t live without it. But today’s Wi-Fi technology has its problems. It can be slow, unreliable, and insecure. If you’ve had just about enough of your home network, check out MyLiFi.

MyLiFi delivers internet through light

MyLiFi is a gorgeous aluminum desk lamp designed by Pierre Garner of the award-winning EliumStudio, which has worked with the likes of Seiko, Panasonic, DKNY, L’Oreal, and Hermès. It’s finished in white, and it looks right at home alongside any Apple computer.

MyLiFi’s 13W LED light lasts around 50,000 hours, and allows you to adjust brightness and color temperature. You can also set it to simulate the sunrise and sunset at hours to suit you, and you can control it — and more MyLiFi lamps — using your smartphone.

What makes the light really special is that it has the ability to beam internet to your wireless devices without using radio waves — even when it’s off. It offers a secure connection at up to 23 megabits per second, and it uses no radio waves.

Check out the video below to see MyLiFi in action.

MyLiFi connects to any existing Ethernet network using a standard RJ45 connector.

MyLiFi needs your support

MyLiFi picked up two innovation awards at CES back in January. It’s now live on Kickstarter and waiting for your support — but it’s not cheap. To get your own MyLiFi lamp when they begin shipping this May, you’ll need to pledge at least €699 (approx. $867).

No, it’s not cheap, but LiFi is cutting-edge technology that’s not widely available. You could become one of the first people in the world with a LiFi connection in their home.
