Who will play Steve Jobs in Sony’s upcoming biopic? That’s been the million dollar question ever since Aaron Sorkin finished the script.
Christian Bale was originally rumored alongside director David Fincher, but talks with both men fell apart. The latest name in the hat was Leonardo DiCaprio, but now he has reportedly backed out to take a break from acting in the near future.
Sony and Slumdog Millionare director Danny Boyle are still eying Bale as a potential candidate alongside some new names like Matt Damon and Ben Affleck.
According to The Hollywood Reporter:
Now with DiCaprio out, the studio is eyeing a number of actors to take on the iconic tech figure, who has been both worshipped and reviled. Christian Bale, who Fincher wanted for the title role, is on Sony’s wish list, as is Matt Damon, Ben Affleck and Bradley Cooper (though Affleck seems unlikely given that he just signed on for the thriller The Accountant).
All interesting choices, and nothing is set in stone yet. Given how many names have been tied to this project at one point or another, it wouldn’t be surprising for more actors to consider the “part hero, part anti-hero” role, as Sorkin described it. Still waiting on Daniel Day-Lewis.

The same, tired, predictable choices, guaranteed to make the producers a lot of money, and insure a Hollywood spin on Jobs’ story. There’s already been a pretty good movie about Steve Jobs with Ashton Kutcher… and •not• funded by Sony. Why not leave it at that for a while?
Sorry, I thought you said “there’s already been a pretty good movie about Steve Jobs with Ashton Kutcher.” I nearly pissed myself. Oh. Wait. You DID say that…. Doh. That movie was an offensive abomination. One of the most simple minded hagiographies ever made. And Ashton Kutcher is not an actor. He is a frat boy doofus.
Sorry, I thought you criticized my taste in movies. I nearly got offended. Oh, wait, you DID criticize my taste in movies. Then I remembered everyone has an opinion, and that’s what makes it great to be living in America. I’ve read *every* book on Apple and Steve Jobs ever written, and met and talked to the man. I liked the movie, and thought it captured Jobs’ essence. You don’t. That’s about all to say.
:D
Although I might not be a very very great fan of Steve Jobs, but I think Ashton Kutcher have an uncanny resemblance of younger Steve Jobs. He nearly gave me a shock when I saw his reflection at the back of iPod in the movie.
And regarding the movie Jobs, I’m not so sure how many % of the movie is true, but it did reflect Steve Jobs as a genius and brilliant a$$hole (that’s the part I like the most). I enjoyed the movie very much, unless the upcoming movie can be better than the current one.
I’m sorry to disagree, but that crap Ashton Kutcher dished up was not acting. The script was horrible and it reflected little on the true life of Steve Jobs. Theres a reason why all he does is lame, inane sitcoms. Now if you watch the pirates of silicon valley, you will find a better offering in Noah Wiley.
Noah Wyle is the one for me.

Christian Bale would be the best choice, definitely
I sort of agree with you. He has the sociopathy down, but I have some doubts about his ability to be stargazing and inspirational.
He got the lisp.
Christian Bale. I think he could pull it off perfectly, and would probably turn himself into an almost identical physical match.
If any of them I really hoping for Bale.
Please dear god not Batfleck
