Apple’s M5-powered MacBook Air will launch in spring 2026. The company is also working on refreshed Mac Studio, Mac mini, and new external monitors for next year.

Apple unveiled the first set of M5-powered devices earlier this week, including the 14-inch MacBook Pro, Vision Pro and iPad Pro.

More M5 Macs are in the pipeline

Since switching to Apple silicon, Apple has updated its Mac lineup yearly. Continuing that trend, the company unveiled its M5 chip on October 15. However, only the base M5 chip was unveiled, with the more powerful Pro, Max and Ultra versions still in the pipeline. That’s also why there were no new high-end Macs this time around.

Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman reports that Apple has more powerful M5-equipped Macs in development. A refreshed Mac Studio, Mac mini and MacBook Pros will launch next year.

Previous reports suggest the new MacBook Pros should launch in early 2026. It should not sport any radical changes besides the faster chip. A bigger design upgrade featuring an OLED display and slimmer chassis will supposedly land in late 2026 or early 2027.

As for the Mac Studio and Mac mini, they should debut alongside Apple’s new external monitors — probably the long-overdue successors to the Pro Display XDR and Studio Display. Apple typically refreshes its Mac mini lineup once every 18 months. But it seems it might make an exception with the M5 upgrade dropping a few months before that.

M5 MacBook Air arrives in spring 2026

The company is also working on an M5-equipped MacBook Air for a spring 2026 release. Similar to the M5 MacBook Pro, this refresh will likely focus on the faster SoC and a shift to the N1 chip for connectivity, with no major design changes expected.

The M5’s faster CPU and GPU should further boost the MacBook Air’s performance, making Apple’s bestselling laptop even better.
