Jobs Defies Rumors, Works Full Day Before Resigning Apple CEO Post

Former Apple CEO Steve Jobs has always had a love-hate relationship with the media. Those feelings were evident Wednesday, when the tech giant founder reportedly worked a full day before resigning, sticking it in the eye of headlines suggesting he was near death.

The “sick Steve” versus “robust Steve” rumors were battling it out yesterday. At the same time Bloomberg was reporting Jobs had been house-bound for weeks, the publication said he spent a full workday at the company’s Cupertino, Calif. headquarters. This before resigning as CEO.

In his resignation letter, Jobs’ again poked fun at the health rumors, particularly those suggesting no internal plans were made for a post-Steve era. “I strongly recommend that we execute our succession plan and name Tim Cook as CEO of Apple,” Jobs advised.

To bolster the image of Jobs as still robust, the Apple leader suggested he remain as chairman of the board, where he will still maintain a good measure of control. Additionally, Apple’s selective leaks included one that Steve intends to remain on the board of Disney, where he is the largest stockholder.

Jobs had pancreatic cancer and a liver transplant. He will never been healthy in a traditional sense. Working the hours a CEO of a company like Apple is called to work is not advised for someone like Jobs. In the end, he has to put himself first which is in many ways what’s best for the company. He can still steer the course of the ship as Chairman and a consultant and let others do the heavy work and be able to step away for rest etc as needed and perhaps live to see another 10 years. Or he can stay as CEO, stress out his body and be dead within a year.

Outstanding reply, and a pretty neat list in the first place. I’ll have to think of my list….

But if Jesus did save, not believing he did doesnt take away form the fact he still saved. Just means your missing out.

  10. imbenking says:

What does he save you from exactly?

@quietstorms:disqus  A nice list :) Thanks for sharing.
