Considering that Apple is the company behind the “Jesus Tablet,” and that its Apple Stores are pretty much modern day tech cathedrals, it shouldn’t be too much of a surprise to bump into the son of God in one.
Perhaps more of a surprise, though, to arrive in the Apple Store in Center City, Philadelphia to witness a long-haired man in robes — known to locals as the “Philly Jesus” — being dragged out in handcuffs.
The man in question was a 29-year-old named Michael Grant, who became a local celebrity after being frequently sighted carrying a cross around the city. He was previously arrested for refusing to leave the area’s Dilworth Plaza — prompting the hashtag #FreePhillyJesus to trend on Twitter.
There’s no word on exactly what caused Philly Jesus to be booted out of the Apple Store, but it came after he ignored employees’ requests that he leave the retail outfit. He is scheduled to appear in court on May 17.
Oh, Apple Store staff. You know not what ye do. (But, hey, on the bright side at least Jesus chose not to appear in a Samsung Store!)
