JailbreakMe 3.0 Goes Live — Jailbreak Your iPad 2 Now!

By

Comex-JailbreakMe-30

After what seemed like a painfully long wait, Comex has finally relaunched JailbreakMe — the web-based unlock for (nearly) all iOS devices, including the iPad 2, running iOS 4.3.3.

If you’re not already familiar with JailbreakMe, it is without question the quickest and easiest method of jailbreaking an iPhone, iPod touch or iPad. You simply navigate to www.jailbreakme.com within mobile Safari on your device, then start the magic:

@comex developed what is now the third installment (and his second) of jailbreakme.com, the easiest way to jailbreak your iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad (including the iPad2!). No computer is necessary for jbme3.0…just browse to https://www.jailbreakme.com on your device and install it from there!

The process takes very little time at all, and because it’s all done through Safari on the device itself, you don’t need a computer to perform the hack. The only devices JailbreakMe doesn’t support right now are the first- and second-generation iPhones. (Or the 2G and 3G.)

There is one caveat that you should be aware of, however. JailbreakMe uses security holes discovered by Comex to jailbreak your device using a PDF exploit, which could leave it vulnerable to attacks. In order to secure your device after jailbreaking, the iPhone Dev-Team recommends you download “PDF Patcher 2” from Cydia which will patch the holes and eliminate any risk.

For more information, head over to the iPhone Dev-Team blog and read their short Q&A.

So, what are you waiting for? Let us know how you get on with JailbreakMe 3.0 in the comments. Good luck!

Just a note…your article says that the jailbreak is “the web-based unlock for (nearly) all iOS devices, including the iPad 2, running iOS 4.3.3”.  This is NOT ACCURATE.  Unlock and Jailbreak are two totally different things.  I would have thought that a tech blog would be able to identify the difference.  Please correct your article.
