Want to play with the same version of iTunes us devs have been rocking for the past few months? iTunes 10.5 is out, and it brings support for the iPhone 4S, the iCloud and iTunes Match along with it. Not that you’ll be able to use iTunes Match yet, but best be prepared anyway.

You can download iTunes 10.5 here. Pick it up now if you plan on upgrading to iOS 5 tomorrow, or plan on getting an iPhone 4S on Friday. It’s a 103MB download on the Mac.

Update: iTunes 10.5 actually doesn’t support iTunes Match. Instead, iTunes Match support has been shuffled off to iTunes 10.5.1 Beta, which is also now available for download by devs.

Word of warning if you use iTunes match this update will remove it. So if you’ve installed iTunes 10.5b9 do not install this one or you will be unable to use iTunes Match.

It’s actually short for the Tampa Bay Devil Rays. They’re pretty much a Major League Baseball team. But seeing how they recently shortened their name to just the Tampa Bay Rays, many pundits decided to keep the term “devs” simply as a nickname.

New iTunes – Anyone getting the pinwheel after updating iTunes and plugging in iPhone4?  iPhone doesn’t say syncing but iPhone shows up in iTunes.  I’ve restarted my MacBook but it’s still doing the same thing.

I unplugged my iPhone and iTunes said it was “updating files on iPhone.

Hmmm. Can I expect any performance improvement in this version? Right now iTunes often stalls my MacBook Pro even with 8GB of RAM. Tried rebuilding library and it didn’t help.
