It took a little while longer than we had anticipated, but Apple has now made iTunes 10.3 available to download. Here’s what’s new!
Tunes 10.3 is a 75MB download for Mac OS 10.5 and above, and introduces the following new features:
- Automatic Downloads. Purchase music from any device or computer and automatically download a copy to your Mac and iOS devices.
- Download Previous Purchases. Download your past music purchases again at no additional cost. Your purchases are available in the iTunes Store on your Mac or in the iTunes app on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. Previous purchases may be unavailable if they are no longer on the iTunes Store.
- iTunes 10.3 also adds Books to the iTunes Store, where you can discover and buy your favorite books on your computer and automatically download them to iBooks on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.
- This version also allows you to use Automatic Downloads with apps and books or download previously purchased apps and books from your computer or iOS device.
As far as we can tell, iTunes 10.3 is not quite available through Software Update yet. However, you can download it from the iTunes page on Apple’s website.
For more information, check out Apple’s support page for iTunes 10.3.

Maybe it’s just me but I can’t download previously purchased music, films or TV shots – only books and apps. Anyone else with this problem?
Are you outside the U.S.? I can only download apps & books, too – I’m guessing it’s because I’m in the U.K. I think the feature is U.S. only right now.
Seems that the music feature is only available in the US…. not great if you are outside the US!!
See the small print here https://www.apple.com/itunes/ … at the botton of the page it states ” … Music features are available only in the U.S.”
Just got iTunes 10.3 havent really done much with iCloud yet, probably because most of my songs weren’t purchased through iTunes. I see myself paying the 25 bucks for iTunes switch or whatever it’s called in the near future..
Yea, blame the darn record labels…
I still can’t buy movies or tv shows in itunes :/ there are a few local sources renting movies digitally though, but they all suck :p but i can’t see what stops apple or rather, why the film companies stop them…
Heh, can’t find music either, also outside the US…
Stupid retarded record labels and movie producers…
Here in South Africa, we can’t even buy music through the standard iTunes Store, let alone the cloud. We also aren’t able to watch local stocks, or use Game Center.
Can I ask a stupid question. What if you’ve subscribed to a podcast? When it downloads to your mac will it show up on your phone? If this has been answered I apologize, I just have not seen any information in regards to podcasts.
So they’re still killing themselves here. People are more than happy to pay for music downloads, but few want to purchase CDs. Ditto for TV shows and Movies on DVD. Our bricks and mortar media stores don’t have non CD/DVD formats available, which leaves the average guy in South Africa with only one option: Piracy. And mostly not for any other reason than not being to able to get downloaded music any other way. GET WITH IT, LABELS!
STILL cannot open iBooks on my Mac… :|
The 60-ish page Terms of Service that popped up on my iPod last night referenced only being able to access books on iOS devices.
Yep, i have the same problem, can’t see the “Music” tap with my purchased albums… i live in México… Damn! (… vaya que cosas!)
When I attempted to download manually, web site only showed DOWNLOAD button with no information about what you were getting. OK fine. Went to install though and it tells me this is 32-bit and I’m running 64-bit. Guess I’ll wait for the normal update pipeline.
So does anyone know what happened to iTunes Plus? I haven’t checked iTunes but I would imagine it is unnecessary now.
Downloaded 10.3 under 10.6.7 using software update, and now my 3rd Gen iPod Touch won’t sync. It errors when “Checking for purchased content” with a -50. :^(
Here’s a question, I share my account with other family members with iPads, how can I make them not see some questionable apps that I’ve downloaded? How is this also safe for the privacy of the user, especially if kids can easily see purchase history in any iPad by simply clicking the AppStore?
I cant download ANY previously purchased music only apps!!!
Why do you need these questionable apps? If you are concerned about your family finding out you having them, that tells me you shouldn’t have them. Just Sayin’.
