Following a win by Samsung in the International Trade Court claiming that older Apple devices violate one of its patents, the ITC has issued an import ban on iPhone 4, iPhone 3, iPhone 3GS, iPad 3G and iPad 2 3G devices that run on the AT&T network.

The patent in question was Patent No. 7,706,384, which is called an “apparatus and method for encoding/decoding transport format combination indicator in CDMA mobile communication system.”

Apple and Samsung have been fighting over this patent for some time, with Apple claiming that the patent was “standards essential.” Apparently, Apple did not succeed.

The ban won’t go into effect immediately, but when it does, this can only overturned by the White House or Federal Circuit Courts.
