Right now, the iPhone 5 comes in white-and-silver and black-and-slate. When the iPhone 5S debuts on September 10th, there’s every reason to believe that Apple will supplement the traditional two color choices with a third option, a golden color (champagne gold, rather than ingot).

Is that it, though? Not according to new leaked images suggesting that the iPhone 5S will actually come in four colors. The last one? Graphite.

Over on his blog, wunderkind Sonny Dickson has posted images of new rear shells he has obtained for the forthcoming iPhone 5S, and they suggest Apple’s next device may come in a fourth color — a “gray or graphite color with a black trim.”

I actually love it. While not exactly the same, the colors here really remind me a lot of the design of the original 2007 iPhone, which I always preferred to the 3G/3GS models that followed. I could see Apple releasing this as a design nod to the 2007 iPhone.

What do you think? You can see more images below.

The iHaters claim that since Apple can’t keep up with Android smartphone hardware, they have to resort to only changing the external colors and are trying to pass that off as innovation. I just think the extra color options are nice, but nothing to get excited about. Most of the pundits are unhappy because they would rather Apple have a large-display iPhone instead of the extra colors which they see as a cop-out.

if that so, and there is a graphite iPhone 5s, that means NO more “white/silver iPhone 5s”.

That graphite phone doesn’t even appear to be the same form factor as the one beside it. I’m calling fake.

Why fix it, when it’s not broken?
