If you’re looking for a “green” way to protect your new iPhone, felted cases appear the latest fad for eco-conscious Apple fans. The latest example: the Domo Kun iPhone case. The  felt case, designed for the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPod Classic, is emblazoned with Domo Jun, the monster serving as a Japanese TV mascot.

The felt monster measures 4.7-inch  x 3.1-inch, but the Etsy artist announced Tuesday the hand-made item was sold-out, just a day after putting the iPhone/iPod holder on the site. A similar fate met another iPhone case, a felt version of an old-style rotary phone.

In a sign of the popularity of home-made felted alternatives to mass-produced holders, the retro iPhone case sold out June 1, the same day it was offered on Etsy.

However, felt fans still have options. If you’re looking to house your iPhone in something warm and fuzzy, another artist has a felt iPhone holder which closely resembles the iconic Apple device. Priced at $39.50, the felted item measures 14.5 cm x 8 cm.

If you’re not into warm and fuzzy, there are alternative carrying cases for your iPhone, including Paul Frank’s  silicon skull and cross bones, available at the Apple Store.
