If you’ve ever opened your AT&T bill and puzzled for a moment over the “Internet Taxes” heading charge before shrugging and just paying it anyway, good news: you might be eligible to get back a few beans thanks to the palliative magic of class action lawsuits.
AT&T is now notifying its customers that if you paid taxes, fees or surcharges labeled “Internet” taxes on internet access on your iPhone data plan from between November 1, 2005 and September 7th, 2010, get in contact with them: they’ve agreed to pay some money out as part of a settlement.
Not that they agree they did anything wrong, of course. In fact, AT&T wants you to know they think this whole thing is just bullspit: “The two sides disagree about whether AT&T Mobility’s charging of Internet Taxes was proper, and if it was improper, how much the plaintiffs would have been entitled to. The parties have agreed to resolve these cases by settlement.”
Still, money grudgingly given is the best kind of money! Hit up this site if you want to make sure AT&T writes you a check.
