A new leak allegedly detailed the iPhone Fold’s design. Originating from China, the leaker “Instant Digital” says the foldable iPhone will feature a Touch ID power button, as seen on the iPad Air and iPad mini.
The device will supposedly feature a black rear camera plateau, housing two cameras, a microphone and the flash.
Biggest battery ever in an iPhone
Apple’s first foldable iPhone should debut in September this year. Reports indicate the device will feature a wide design, with a 5.5-inch cover display and a 7.58-inch internal screen.
The latest leak from a reliable Chinese leaker, Instant Digital, on Weibo reveals more about the foldable’s design. Similar to the current iPhones, the right side of the device will feature the Touch ID-integrated power button and Camera Control.
Further, Apple plans to place the volume rocker on the top-right edge, as seen on the iPad mini. This is apparently due to the company internally positioning the motherboard on the right. Such a design will avoid the need to route internal cabling across the device.
This has purportedly also enabled Apple to dedicate the entire space on the left to the screen structure and the battery. As a result, the iPhone Fold could feature the largest battery capacity of any iPhone to date.
Single punch-hole for the front camera
Additionally, the leaker says the front of the foldable iPhone will sport a single punch-hole for the selfie camera. It appears Apple will ditch Face ID and stick to Touch ID on the device due to space constraints and technological limitations.
At the rear, the dual cameras will sit horizontally within an iPhone Air-like camera plateau.
Apparently, Apple will only offer the iPhone Fold in two colors, with one of them being white. However, the company will purportedly finish the rear camera module in black for a two-tone look. The other color hasn’t been confirmed yet, but it will likely be black.
