The iPhone Air already stands out with its sleek, ultra-thin design. A modder has now taken it a step further and added a custom transparent back glass to give the phone an even stunning look.

The result is a retro-mod vibe that shows off the phone’s internals in all its glory.

Modder turns the iPhone Air into a see-through beauty

The iPhone Air is all about its design and thin 5.6mm frame. Apple offers the phone in four colors — black, white, sky blue and light gold — that go well with the sleek design. But for modder @brt2412, those options felt a bit too plain. So he took matters into his own hands and gave the iPhone Air a striking transparent back glass.

As part of the process, he took apart the iPhone Air’s back glass and scraped the paint off it using a razor blade.

Apple’s clean internal design takes this mod to the next level

Apple packed most of the iPhone Air’s key components into the top camera island. It also enclosed the battery in a steel casing with an Apple logo. This clever layout makes the transparent mod look even more striking. And this is not just a dummy unit, as the phone is fully functional despite the mod.

For aesthetic reasons, the modder removed the wireless charging coil from the back. As a result, the phone lacks wireless charging support — but that’s the only compromise. The first version skipped the flashlight and mic, but the modder eventually added them back.

This isn’t @brt2412’s first time giving an iPhone a transparent makeover. A few months ago, he modded an iPhone 16 Pro with a custom see-through back glass.
