iPhone 4S, iPhone 5 and iPad 3 To Debut Next Month [Rumor]

By

It’s hard to figure out quite what to make of this rumor given the wide-spread agreement that the iPhone 5 will be released between mid-to-late September and early October and represent a significant upgrade over the iPhone 4, but Macotakara is now reporting that Apple will be releasing the iPhone 4S early next month.

As a kicker? They also say the iPad 3 is coming next month… despite the fact that a report from earlier today made it clear that the A6 CPU won’t be ready until the second quarter of 2012. What gives?

Macotakara’s report really doesn’t make much sense. First, they suggest the iPhone 4S will be based on the CDMA iPhone 4, but have upgraded components. It’s unclear if Macotakara thinks this handset will be released alongside the iPhone 5, but I suppose it’s possible. I just don’t see what the point is of having both.

What doesn’t make much sense to me is the iPad 3 rumor. The iPad 3 coming in October was always a long shot, but right now, Apple doesn’t have either a more advanced chip or a Retina Display to put in a new iPad. I just don’t think there’s much chance that a new, more advanced iPad will come out in October.

How do you know Apple doesn’t have a more advanced chip or retina iPad display?

Wow! Another one of these stories. Come on guys. If it ain’t worth posting, don’t post it.

  3. Ardon Polukoff says:

It  has previously been reported that LG was not capable of producing quality components, not to mention that they just couldn’t crank out enough. Also the thai company that was producing the a5 CPU’s could not deliver either

  4. Steven Chaffer says:

It’s difficult to imagine Apple releasing a new iPad just 6-7 months after the release of iPad 2. Personally I don’t see it occurring. I know Apple is the leader and on the firing lines, and I appreciate that but this move would / could upset a large population of iPad 2 owners.

When is #4 coming out? In December?

  5. Chase Hausman says:

By Thai company, do you mean TSMC?  Because if you do, they are Taiwanese, not Thai.

  6. Dreamgrifter Films says:

It’s not just the iPhone 4s, iPhone 5, and iPad 3, but the iPhone 6 is coming in October alongside the iPad 4!

Stop posting these crazy stories. No one cares, and if they did care they would read a horribly written TUAW blog post.

  12. John Branham says:

    1) Unless Apple wants to get crushed by Android, they will not have a 4S, but rather a 5 with huge upgrades.
    2) There’s not gonna be a new iPad when word is they are having trouble developing the next A6 chip
((I don’t understand how this rumor has been so prominent when the exact same day we hear that they have not fully developed the A6 yet….. SAME DAY!!))

    3) They wouldn’t bring a new iPad out unless it was a PRO version this soon.

    Yawn + 1

  14. Hampus says:

I seriously doubt they’d release an iPhone 4s and an iPhone 5, wouldn’t make much sense, just keeping the current iPhone 4 as the cheaper model would make much more sense that upgrading it to be more expensive to manufacture. Besides, it’s not like it needs a speed bump or anything…

  15. Hampus says:

Apple doesn’t need a big updated, they only need a small update to compete with the high end Android phones.
More importantly, to truly compete with Android Apple isnt in need of a stronger iPhone, they are in need of a cheaper, where Android truly rule is the low end of the market…

Rumor this just in, you have been posting iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, and iPad 3 for the last 8 months. I know since everyone is done complaining about Lion there really isn’t much in the apple news but give it a rest on the iPhone 4S / iPhone 5 Rumors and even iPad, we all know that apple would seriously take a hit if they launched 2 iPads the same year, and also have majorly angry customers.

  17. John Branham says:

I strongly disagree. apple is not about having a lower end model, but having a high end model that is *virtually* affordable to most people, and having consistent quality across the board.

And no, Apple has to get up to speed with camera, speed, and screen size. Not to mention jumping BEYOND what other smart phones have- I’m hoping beyond hope they go for 10mp camera instead of the rumored 8mg, because then there really would be NO competition for camera phone quality.

  18. John Branham says:

as for as the expected predecessor of the A5 (the A6), there were several articles a few days ago about how the A6 has not been fully developed.

  19. Kev Mcgovern says:

umm Apple has made it clear they don’t care about Pro anything. just take a look at what they did to the millions of Final Cut ‘pro’ users. Apple is just a high end electronic toy store now, they stopped caring about anything Pro as soon as they realized it would not help their bottom line

  20. GooneyGooGoo says:

Both will come complete with built-in hardware glitches!

No the iPad 5 comes out in december.

  22. Cold_dead_fingers says:

And the Mac Pro is a…….child’s toy? Equivalent to a “Surf’s up Barbie?” Come on, Apple can make whatever upgrades they want to benefit ALL users. They know that Final Cut Pro X isn’t what pro editors expected. They completely changed the landscape. They made a software-build that is simple enough for people who want more than iMovie and will add updates to satisfy the Pro editors. If you don’t want to stay, that’s your choice and they respect that, but don’t claim they forgot about pro users when you’re just too hot headed to understand how they want to make money from people who are willing to spend it. You didn’t think the $300 price tag was there because pro editors needed cheap editing software, did you?

  23. Cold_dead_fingers says:

No, Apple needs to do both. They need an iPhone with big updates and a more affordable option. Software optimizing only goes so far. Sooner or later, you need better parts.

    thanks…for every thing
