iPad 2 Vs. Molten Lava [Video]

We all know how the mano a mano duel between an iPad and a blender turns out, but what happens when you open up an iPad 2 and then plop it down in some molten lava? That’s just what accessory maker ZooGue wanted to find out, so they jumped on a plane to Hawaii and then threw their iPad 2 into a volcano.

The result? Pretty much as you expect: the iPad 2 complains about the heat for awhile, then bursts into flame and melts into metallic goo. It’s strangely cathartic, but that’s doubtless because it’s not my iPad 2.

Well that was a pointless experiment.

What a waste of 5 minutes of my life. What did you think was gonna happen?

Brownlee is News Editor?!, but he does not know that jumping on a plain will not get you anywhere besides where that plain is? There is no plain to Hawaii, most people take a plane, jet or boat.

Sunderland’s basic lack of knowledge of the technology that he writes about, Brownlee the news editor unable to distinguish between a plain and a plane?

The more I read articles here, the more it seems like COM is produced by school kids, maybe high school kids, but even that is a stretch for some of the immature mistakes made.

Why would someone do such a thing to perfectly working gadget. If they don’t want it or have too much money to waste why not donate it to education.

“Why would someone do such a thing to perfectly working gadget.”

So Brownie will post a link to the video?

    “Brownlee is News Editor?”

    Nope. Just a blogger.

When rich people get bored buying expensive gadgets, they fly themselves to exotic places to destroy them.

It’s psychotic. I characterize the sort of “I gotta buy it and destroy it” narcissism to be a bit too mental for me.

  9. Andy Murdock says:

I’d love to see someone fly to a distant island, take a perfectly good iPad and give it to a child who has very little. Though, I do like watching lava.

  10. David Clark says:

Just exactly what was the point of this? Gotta love how business waste money.

  11. JoshObra says:

Should’ve gave me the iPad instead. I would’ve definitely made it to good use.

Anybody can be a CEO these days.

    No Comments!!!!

  14. Alidar Jarok says:

Wait, were they on a plain or on a volcano?
I think you mean they hopped on a “plane.”

  15. Foamcow says:

Was there really in any doubt about what would happen if you put a bit of consumer electronics kit onto a surface around 1000ºC ?

I did watch this without the sound so maybe there was some dribbling dialogue about how “totally awesome” it all was.

What I do know is that this was a total waste of time, money and effort; was rather repugnant; and is a shining example of what people with resources shouldn’t be doing.

All that effort for some website hits with the goal of selling plastic cases to wrap around your shiny.

    Not cool.

  16. Chris Jones says:

Crap like this and the “will it blend” videos just piss me off.  Hundreds of dollars wasted along with lord knows how jet fuel & embodied energy for nothing.

  17. _HROH says:

Why do people waste money for this? Yeah we all know iPad will burn on Lava. duh?

  18. iDaBoss says:

That’s an insult to the blogger community

  19. Jonathon Wilson says:

And not a very good one.

  20. Jim Crismon says:

Thanks for the extra release of toxic fumes into the environment.   Since you fashion yourself as an intrepid reporter, why don’t you take a trip to africa or China where they dump this stuff and openly burn it in an attempt to salvage the recycleable metals.  Take a few good deep breaths and then let us know how you feel.
    What a waste….

  21. James says:

tim angel ceo of zoogue is a fucking faggot for doing this shit.

  22. AdamTro says:

This has to be some of the dumbest shit I’ve ever seen.

  23. Erik Sarnstrom says:

    Way to waste money moron!

  24. Greg Smith says:

why do people do this?  The next time you have the desire to destroy an iPad, please send it to me.  I actually want one, and would use it nonstop for business and personal use.  Thanks.

  25. Hayden Evans says:

What the fuck did he think was going to happen? It’s molten rock, of course it will melt just about anything you put in it. He spent money on a plane ticket to Hawaii and an iPad for this shit?

  26. cirrostratus says:

Hmm, I wonder what would happen if we attached a CEO to a stick and used the stick to place him in lava? (c’mon, it’s not like we’d be wasting a perfectly good iPad or anything else remotely useful)
